It’s been a while since I’ve written here. I kept walking, kind of maniacally, throughout March. It was very strange. I just had an urge to be outside as much as possible. In deep snow, I could put snowshoes on; but this March was unusually dry (only 1.2″ of precip) and sunny, so I was getting a lot of icy conditions in the beginning of the month, and a lot of soft snow towards the middle. I did have to stay inside a couple of days because the road was too narrow and the snow too slippery; my left knee started hurting so I paused a bit.
But by March 15, so much melting had occurred that the road opened up a fair amount but was still frozen. I got out and around the bend to look at the pond for the first time since Fall. I stopped walking the basketball court (which had become treacherous) and just did the back yard and the road.
By the last week of March, most of the snow had melted but the yard was so soft we were making sink holes!
Dry and sunny continued into April; as of today no rain this month. Road was particularly muddy, but that doesn’t stop me. I actually got Appa out on a leash Saturday for a quick walk. She fair dragged me up the hill at almost 9 years old. I really do love that little dog.
