The basketball court in winter

I started just tromping down a path around the basketball court in January. It’s narrow and very tricky now, but I keep using it as it gets me out (8 loops around) without being on the road. I think I’ll make it more complex next year, a figure 8 or something. I have made a bit of a loop towards the middle so it’s longer than just the basic perimeter. But the more I use it the more treacherous it gets, as I can slip off of it very easily into the deeper snow. It was killing my left knee for a while. But where else can I walk besides the dog paths?

It’s snowing about 2″ or so today, so I’ll have to go re-tromp. It will help a bit because the ice last week made the surface very slippery, and the snow will fill in the boot prints that went deep into the (at the time) soft snow.

Of course, in a month or so we’ll be back down to “basketball court”, which is slippery when wet but less slippery than it is now!
