Snow is here, 2021

It’s that time of year. The snow is permanent enough that it’s hard to walk on the road, and deep enough that you’ve got to use snowshoes. But that said, it’s only about 6″ of snow. It’s been fun making tracks in the backyard and into the field for the dogs; it also gives me a track to walk on. But I’m down 1000 steps a day from December.

I tried the stationary bike; I think I’ll have to keep it up and get stronger cause my legs are very tired today.

I did find a lot of tracks on the basketball court and the surrounding woods. Tom and I think the most interesting one was a weasel of some large size. Slow steps are 8″ apart with a dragging tail; bounds are 13″ apart. Some diving into the bases of dead trees in search of rodents. Since I have no chickens, anything that eats rodents is a friend of mine.

There were also bunny, squirrel, bird and mouse tracks. I dragged Dee out there and she enjoyed it too.
