The case of the Missing Glasses

I dragged poor Dee out on a snow shoe tour of the back yard on a cold, clear day where we had had 7″ of puffy snow the day before. It was a fun walk; we went out the back yard, along the tree line above Mud Puppy Pond and into the woods. We circled back right away as the snow was deep and there were no tracks. I led out in the deep snow, Dee led in the woods, and I led again as we were coming back. Dee decided to make a path for Louisa that was closer to home so she cycled back to the well area while I went back and continued making doggie paths.

When I got in, Dee was looking for her fancy $600 eyeglasses. It seems inconceivable that she didn’t wear them out on the walk, but we couldn’t find them anywhere. I turned over the house (as I could see) and there was no sign of them. I actually went back out on our path to see if they were out in the snow, so I wound up doing two walks. Of course, the second was much easier due to the path already having been laid.

It’s now 3 days later and I’m going out again, as the days have been sunny and much warmer; if the sun gets on those glasses they will recede the snow very quickly. Fortunately, Meg is keeping Dee busy doing crafts (!) so I can go out without making a big deal about it.
