Early January Snowshoeing

The sun finally came out for a few hours today even though it’s been really warm. So, Dee and I went out on snow shoes. It was a beautiful walk. The snow is about 10″ deep but there’s a layer of ice underneath 4″ of powder, making it impossible for the snowshoes to go too deep but letting us walk over junk that we normally couldn’t. No ticks either!

We went all the way out to MPP, where the pine tree that has drained it has grown to about 40 feet! I followed some tracks into the woods directly out to the property line; then we circled around north of our usual spot and then followed some fox tracks all the way to Iseult’s cistern. We came out in the third field after passing through some pine groves that had trees at least 100′ tall, perhaps 120. It was so fun.

Dee had a great time, I got one photo of bounding rabbit tracks and the pine grove.
