It’s a pretty short walk from the office to Harvey’s. Traffic has been so bad I don’t pull in on the way because it’s very hard to back out and get into the flow. So, often while talking to poor Lacy, I put my ugly headset on and walk over. Down the stairs, across the crosswalk to the left of the front door, over to the other mill complex, through the bank parking lot and cross Center St. at crosswalks.
The Center St. crosswalk is pretty easy; traffic moves so slowly that people are wary and waiting. The one headed around the circle is insane…everyone’s trying to get to Maine or to Smiley’s “Beverage” store as fast as possible…so they’re fully willing to run you down on the way. I cringe when I see moms in strollers just pull out into that crosswalk. But at least you don’t have to wait for a light.
10 minutes round trip, including buying the donut…much too close, actually!
